Buying Guide: Which dog clipper is right for your dog?

Answer a few short questions and we'll find the perfect clipper for your dog.

Choosing the right clipper starts with the coat type. Short, smooth coats require a light trimmer, while thick undercoats, curly, and fleece coats need a powerful motor and a Blade with Skiptooth teeth. Mats and felted areas should first be clipped short with an A5 Blade before styling the coat.

Corded or cordless? A cordless clipper gives you complete freedom of movement and is ideal for home use and for dogs that don't stand still for long; a corded model provides unlimited working time for long grooming sessions. 2-Speed models combine both: low speed for sensitive areas like the head, ears, and paws, high speed for the main body work.

Also pay attention to noise level and vibrations: a quiet, cool-running clipper makes clipping much more pleasant for anxious dogs. If you frequently change cutting lengths, choose a clipper with standard A5 snap-on Blades and use comb attachments for an even result without the risk of clipping too short.
